St. Mary's students receive Business awards

The National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUIM), in association with the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland (BSTAI), recently publically recognised excellence in Junior Certificate Higher Level Business Studies business award 2018aat a Gala Ceremony in the Aula Maxima. In recognition of the excellence in contributing to the teaching and promotion of the discipline, St Mary’s College Naas was invited to attend. Isabelle O'Dwyer, representing the numerous students who achieved ‘A’ grades, was invited to attend along with her parents. Mr. Wallace, representing the Business Department in St. Mary's, also attended. Isabelle was presented with both individual certificates for those students who achieved an ‘A’ grade and a framed plaque for the school recognising the achievements of all high achieving Business Studies students. Presentations were made by the President of NUIM, Professor Philip Nolan. Refreshments were served afterwards in the Pugin Hall and it provided a great opportunity to meet with various academic staff and department heads from the university. Well done to all students and teachers on their great achievements.

3T visit Dublin DSPCA

 

Well done to 3T who travelled to the Dublin DSPCA centre in Rathfarnham recently. 3T CSPE 2017The girls held a very successful bake sale in school as part of their action project for CSPE and presented the DSPCA with a cheque for €400. Well done to them and their teacher, Mr. Maguire.

 

Italian Trip

From April 21st to 24th, 53 fifth year students along with Ms. Cleary, Ms. Curry, Ms. Halligan,italy trip 2017 Ms. Shanahan and Ms. Sheehan, visited Verona, Venice, Sirmione and Lake Garda.
Some of the attractions were the Roman arena in Verona, Juliet's house, the Vecchia Murano glass factory in Venice including a demonstration from a master glass blower, El Bacan- a working farm where students made pizza and sampled lots of produce grown on the farm and a boat trip around Lake Garda.
The group explored Verona, Venice and the picturesque town of Sirmione. We also got  to sample home made pasta, pizza and ice cream.

6th Year Spanish Breakfast

Sixth years enjoying a Spanish Breakfast on their last official Friday of Spanish class. The girls brought in food such as churros con chocolate, magdalenas (fairy buns), galletas de almendras (biscuits) spanish breakfast 1 y zumos de fruta (juices). Ms. O'Gorman made  Tortilla Española (spanish omelette) which was devoured. We had tapas of jamón Serrano, queso manchego or fresh crunchy bread. We also had brioche with nutella. The girls chatted away in Spanish throughout!
