March Ethos 2016

ETHOS – March 2016

The focus of Trocaire's Lenten campaign this year is climate justice. The campaign was launched in the school on March 10th. A speaker from Trocaire, organised by Ms. Woods, addressed all fifth year classes. Students were invited to seek sponsorship for Trocaire by fasting, walking, giving up technology for a day or a sponsored silence. It's envisaged that senior students only will fast. A 'Blue Day' will be organised after Easter, to focus on this action.

Ms. Farrell and her sixth year students put depictions of the Stations of the Cross up on the prayer-room walls and placed a pathway of stones on the floor. Accompanying explanations were placed in all RE teachers post-boxes. These formed the basis for reflections on the meaning of Lent and Easter.

Ms. Curry organised members of the Legion of Mary to visit all sixth year classes in early March. The speakers outlined their devotion to Our Lady, gave explanations as to the meaning and significance of the miraculous medal, and distributed medals and accompanying leaflets to everyone in the year. They assured the students of their prayers, particularly in the remaining months before the LC.

Work with sixth years after Easter will primarily focus on their Graduation mass, to be held in the church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballycane, on Thursday, May 19th, 2016.
