Ethos February 2016
January 2016 saw a focus on Catholic Schools Week with intercom prayer, posters in reception (organised by Ms. Woods) and classwork focus on the theme of mercy.
As Feb 1st approached, the first years had their retreat, (organised by Ms. Irwin and first year RE teachers)) in honour of St. Brigid. Teachers were assisted by Meitheal leaders in the day's activities. Mass concluded the day, supported in song by Ms. Elliott, and celebrated by Fr. Liam.
Seventeen 5th year students recently received their John Paul II awards in Carlow. Papal Cross Awards were also given to four 6th year students. Special thanks to Ms. Woods who has monitored and guided the students in their work to attain these highly valued awards.
Lent has begun! Ashes were given to students in the prayer room by Fr. Liam and Ms. Humphreys, at lunch-time. We hope to have a 'Blue Day' later in the season, to support the work of Trócaire, whose focus this year is on climate change and its effects on environments in many developing countries worldwide.
