Meitheal is a diocesan mentoring programme where 6th year students mentor 1st years and help them to make the transition from Primary to Secondary school. St. Mary's Meitheal team for 2016-2017 is Sarah Alley, Kate Coffey, Niamh Dempsey, Ciara Durkan, Sarah Finn, Caoimhe McConnon Burke, Laura Messitt, Caoimhe Mullally, Aoife O’Boyle, Ailbhe O’Sullivan, Laura Owens and Sinéad Whelan.
The Meitheal team have been involved with the 1st years since their first day in school last August. They have organised activities on the first two days of the new school year, visited their classes at least once a week and have held a very enjoyable and spooky Halloween party on Wednesday 26th October.

Meitheal Christmas Movie Night
Well done to the Meitheal team who organised a very successful Christmas Movie Night for all First Years on December 19th. Pupils began to arrive before 7pm armed with pillows, duvets, sleeping bags, many different cuddly toys and an array of slippers!!. First years had been given the movie choices earlier the previous week and with classrooms reorganised into 'mini cinema rooms' it did not take long for lights to be turned off and the various films to begin. Refreshments and goodies were handed out during 'the interval' and a very enjoyable night was had by all.
