Thursday began earlier than normal (2.30am) for those St. Mary's students travelling to Northern Italy. After an enjoyable flight, they arrived in Verona for their first experience of Italian culture and history. Verona, with visits to the magnificent Roman Arena and Juliet's Balcony, were the highlights of that day.
The evening was spent on a local farm learning pizza making before heading to Sirmione. Venice was the next city on the itinerary and a guided tour, visit to a glass factory, a gondola and boat journey, made sure Venice would have a place in the
hearts of all of the St. Mary's group.
Saturday was the day for the thrill seekers in the group as Gardaland was the plan. Excitement was high as everyone enjoyed the theme park and there is no doubt all experienced an adrenaline rush or two.
The final day of the tour began with a boat tour on Lake Garda around the town of Sirmione and finished with the all important trip to the Orio Shopping Centre, before heading to the airport for the flight home. All students really enjoyed the experience and many thanks to Mr. Brogan, Ms. Feighery, Ms. Howard (tour organiser), Ms. Kiernan and Ms. O'Sullivan who accompanied the students.
