First year students participated in a cookery demonstration by chef Vorneen Hennessy highlighting the necessity of preventing food waste. Following this the students put their newly acquired knowledge into practice and took part in a food waste prevention cookery competition. All students showed an array of skills as is evident from the amazing dishes produced. After much deliberation Roisin McNamee and Ellen Clarke won first place with their chorizo crostini and chicken Caesar salad, Sarah Bird and Sally Keilty followed closely in second with chicken carbonara. The winners are invited to show case their dishes at the Naas Wild Food Festival next September.
