St. Mary's First Years enjoyed the annual First Year retreat held on a date closest to St. Brigid's day (1st Feb). A description of the day's activities was written by Robyn Cousins 1J
All First Years took part in various activities organised by St. Mary's Religion Department.
The first thing we did on our school retreat was make St. Brigid's crosses. In our second session, we enjoyed some fun activities such as acting, drawing, poetry and role playing.
Our third workshop involved listening to and learning about St. Brigid and aspects of her life.
After little break we went back to our rooms with our Meitheal leaders and did lots of fun, positive games that the whole class enjoyed.
At midday we went to the Parish Chursh for Mass. We brought our handcrafted St. Brigid's crosses with us and had a lovely mass, filled with song and prayer.
In summary, the retreat was a great experience, one which we will remember for years to come.
