January Ethos

ETHOS – January, 2016.

Returning to school on Jan. 6th, we acknowledged the feast of the Epiphany with an intercom prayer. The school crib was not returned to storage until later that week, allowing for a focus on the significance of 'Little Christmas' or 'Nollaig  na mBan'.

Preparations for the first year retreat were quickly underway in the opening week of the year. Ms. Irwin organised three meetings with teachers, to plan, delegate and facilitate what is always a memorable year in first year. Hours on the Wicklow hills were also spent by Ms. Irwin, cutting rushes needed for the entire first- year body, so that each student could make St. Brigid's crosses on the day!

Meitheal leaders will also assist in the morning's activities, with their focus being on the theme of friendship.

As ever, Ms. Elliott is providing the music for the retreat mass. Her generosity and energy is so appreciated as she single-handedly carries the whole of first year through the mass, with songs and hymns in honour of St. Brigid. Fr. Liam will celebrate the mass in the parish church and we thank him for his support.

Ms. Woods has been monitoring the work of students aiming to attain the John Paul II awards and is pleased with progress to date.
