First Year Debating

St. Mary’s Junior Debating Club has been meeting every Monday since September. The Club consists of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year students who are helped by Ms. Gibbons, Ms. M. Humphreys and Ms. S. Cleary.
We have been involved in a league with Piper’s Hill and the CBS. It has been an exciting, interesting year with many issues including, ‘Gender Equality is not Possible’, Blood Sports should be Banned’ and ‘Popular Music Corrupts Society’ being debated. We plan to hold a finale evening in May between the three schools. Great credit is due to all those girls and boys who participate in the Junior Debating Clubs in their schools. It has been a most enjoyable year of debate always followed by refreshments and a chat forging new friendships!

Well done to the 1st Yr debaters who had a spirited  debate against Pipers Hill College on Monday 24thApril.  The motion that 'Bloodsports should be banned' was defeated by St Mary's  College.

If anyone is interested in joining junior debating, we meet each  Monday at lunchtime in the demo room. All welcome.
