South Leinster Track and Field Victory

 Congratulations to the Intermediate and Junior Athletics teams who competed in the South Leinster Track and Field Championships in Waterford.  Well done to Grace Casey who won gold in Senior Javelin, Danielle Oghuvbu who won silver in the Inter 200m, the relay team of Niamh Whelan, Kira O'Brien, Abigail Farmer and Sarah Babiker who won silver in the 4x300m relay and Áine O'Connor who won bronze in the Senior 100m race.

Also well done to the Minor and Junior athletics teams who competed last week, especially Aisling MacHugh who won gold in Minor Long jump and Javelin and Maria Flynn and Emily MacHugh who both came first in their respective races. Well done to all the girls who competed and to Mr. Breen, their coach for all his committment and support. Best of luck to all teams who will compete in the Leinster championships before the end of May.

Badminton All Ireland Winners

Congratulations to St. Mary's Badminton teams who competed in the All Irleand Finals in Gormanstown on March 8th last. Well done to the U16 team who were crowned All Ireland champions for the second year, having won the U14 title last year. Well done to the U19 team who were runners up in the All Ireland final and well played and congratulations to the U14 team who came third. 

Congratulations to St. Mary's U16 and U19 Badminton teams who have now qualified for the All Ireland Finals in Gormanstown in March. Both teams were recently crowned Leinster champions. Well done to the girls on their committment to training each week and to Ms. Hughes, their coach, for all her hard work. Many thanks to those parents who provided transport for all badminton teams this year.

St. Mary's U14 Badminton Team competed in the Leinster final on 16th February against St. Joseph's of Cluny. All players played extremely well and had tough opposition from the Dublin girls. The teams were level on games after the singles matches. The girls showed great determination and self belief in the doubles and emerged as victors, winning four games to two. St. Mary's are now the  U14, U16 and U19 Leinster Badminton champions and all teams progress to the All Ireland Finals in March. Well done to all the girls and to their coach, Ms. Hughes. 
Many thanks to all parents for driving the teams to matches since the start of the badminton season.
