Congratulations to St. Mary's 1st year Basketball squad who won the midlands/southeast regional final on Wednesday, 20th March. The team has now qualified for the All Ireland playoffs. Well done to the entire squad for their committment to training and to their coaches Aisling Archbold, Mr. Joe Clancy and Ms. Halpin for all their help and encouragement.
Friday, 22nd March, was 'Fruit Day' courtesy of the Parents Council. All staff and students had a healthy 'little break' to celebrate St. Mary's success as Ireland's fittest school. Many thanks to all those who helped with the organisation of the event.
Congratulations to St. Mary's U19 Badminton team who were runners up in the All Ireland last week. This was a fantastic achievement for the team who reached the All Ireland final for the fourth year in a row. Well done to them and their coaches, Ms. Hughes and Ms. Quinn.
Over 50 5th year students headed off on a trip to Italy recently. Rome and Pompeii were highlights of the trip for all students. Many thanks to Ms. Quinn, Ms. Howard, Ms. Hennessy, Ms. Kelly and Ms. O'Sullivan who accomplaied the girls.
On Friday, 22nd March, St. Mary's pupils and staff, involved in Ireland's fittest school competition, were presented with their awards. Well done to all the first, second and fifth years who participated. St. Mary's second years were awarded second place in the competition and the Leaving Certificate 5th year P.E. class was named the national winner. Congratulations to the PE Department on such an achievement. Over 10,000 students in total took part.
