St Mary's 'Happy Dance' .
St. Mary's welcomes the Cycle against Suicide.
A huge thanks to Jennifer McMahon of the Kildare Academy of Dance who choreographed the dance and to Mongey Communications who provided the sound system. This great event could not have gone ahead without their invaluable input.

Mini Company began in September when we were divided into groups and began brain-storming for business ideas. Since then all the mini-companies worked hard in order to get their product to the stage where it could be sold. On the 6th of February, we had the School Mini-Company final. Approximately twenty groups from transition year in the school took part in it with a variety of products ranging from Student Cards to Tie Dye Clothing. Hard work and good fortune paid off for two of the mini companies; HandyHang and The Blue Wedge succeeded in earning a place in the Kildare County Final in Killashee House Hotel. HandyHang is a product which holds your phone while it charges. The Blue Wedge is a stretching aid which helps improve flexibility in ankles and also doubles up as a swimming float. From the 6th of February until the 3rd of March both groups put a lot of time and effort into designing their stalls and preparing their reports and speeches.
When the day finally came, we set off up to Killashee House Hotel at ten o’clock to set up our stands, There were twenty-five mini-companies taking part and each one with their own unique selling point. The presentations began at eleven o’clock with HandyHang commencing and followed by The Blue Wedge. We were required to make a three minute presentation on our company. Tensions were high as we looked into an audience of over two-hundred people.
After the long day of presentations, the award ceremony commenced at 4.45pm. Familiar faces such as Clem Ryan (CEO of Kfm), Martin Heydon (TD) and Anthony Lawlor (TD) were present. The Blue Wedge received the most innovative award. Although HandyHang did not receive an award, they were honoured to have made it into the final twenty-five out of four-hundred initial entries around the county.
For both Mini-Companies, it was challenging, rewarding, interesting and worthwhile experience and a great way to get a taste of what it would be like to work in a company.
