St. Mary's pupils at Maths Eyes presentation

Congratulations to Nicole Clancy and Louise Buggle who were placed in the top 6 in Ireland in the U19 category of the “Maths Eyes” poster competition.
Maths Eyes is a unique competition that gets people of all ages to look around and see the mathematics in their surroundings. They in turn capture this in a photograph adding a caption to show the maths to others. This competition attracted over 700 entries. Nicole and Louise got to display their work at the award ceremony at Tallaght Institute of Technology where they also received their trophies. Many thanks to Ms. Ramsey and Ms. Halligan for all their help and support.

Cycle against Suicide 2017

Congratulation to all involved in the recent Cycle against Suicide. Forty five students and ten teachers from St. Mary's cycled 45km from Newbridge to Dublin Castle. All involved were delighted with their achievement and, despite sore limbs, are already thinking of next year's event. Many thanks to so many people who made this possible, especially to Ms. Doherty for all her time and committment to Cycle against Suicide.

National Poetry Day

On Thursday, April 27th, the Poetry Club held a 'Poetry Aloud' competition in the library. Poetry recitation was the order of the day and all participants performed extremely well. The girls have spent many weeks preparing, bringing a wonderful spirit to the Club. The competition was in honour of National Poetry Day and was enjoyed by students and staff. Judged by Ms. Moher and former colleague Arthur Burke, the competition was a considerably difficult task to adjudicate with so many lovely recitations.

The winner of the junior category was Sadhbh Neville, 2M; senior winner was Mia Sherry, 5F, and the overall winner was Adelina Catarau, 2T. Huge congratulations to all involved and many thanks to Ms. Curry and Ms. Fleming for organising the event.
