Ploughing Championships 2013

Thursday September 26th 2013, the TY's gathered outside the school, decked out in wellies and raincoats. A mucky day was ahead!
We got on the bus at 8.45 and arrived in Ratheniska, Co, Laois at 10.00. Today was the final day of the ploughing, with a record-breaking attendance of 243.000 people!

There were hundreds of different stalls, a food court, and even a carnival! The place was packed with people whizing around in all directions. People travelled from far and wide to attend. Luckily, the rain held back so the day was much more enjoyable for us all. However we were all covered from head to toe in muck by the end of the day! Hundreds of big names attended the event, for example our Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, and Joe Canning, Galway hurler. The three days of the 2013 Ploughing Championships were a massive success and a huge day for farmers across the country. We were back on the bus at two and were on our way abhaile in no time - caked in mud and totally exhausted after a day of tramping round in muddy fields. It is safe to say it was a fantastic day for all!
