Well done to our 4 companies who qualified for the county final which was held in the Killashee Hotel on Friday the 8th March. The companies were “The Struggle is Real”, “Number Ninja’s”, Canine Couture and Memory Lane. They were selected from 37 companies in this year’s Transition Year by our outside judges from Statestreet and Bank of Ireland. For the county final the four groups had to set up a stand and pitch their products to judges from the business world and all the students gave a great account of themselves. We were delighted that we received three prizes overall. Number Ninja’s won a Highly Commended prize in the Innovation Category. The Struggle is Real won the prize for the best report and were also declared the overall winners of the competition which is a fantastic honour for the girls. This was the first time since 2005 that St. Mary's has scooped this prestigious prize. The following girls were in the group- Anna Bazin, Eabha Bracken O’ Brien, Sophie Browne, Anna Burke and Daire Kavanagh. “The Struggle is Real” is a book that offers advice and exercises to help teens overcome struggles in their lives. What makes this book so unique is that it is created by young people for young people. They will now represent Kildare in the All Ireland final which takes place on Friday the 3rd May in Croke Park. Well done also to the Business Teachers involved Mr. Brennan, Ms.Howard, Mr. Wallace, Ms. Quinn, Miss Kelly and Ms. Halpin.
